So, this week was catch-up week from a hectic week last week and being at the conference all weekend for Beachbody. I have to say, the excitement was addicting and quite overwhelming, which is just saying that the peeps at BB made the impression they wanted!
On the same topic of enjoying myself and getting super-hyped for my biz…I was a bit disappointed on the FB front. It seemed like every post was regarding BB and Summit and Tony and Shaun and Charlene and on and on. Not that I have anything against any of these people and the company as a whole…I admire them completely! BUT it was BB this and BB that and P90X this and Insanity that, ad nauseum. It seemed that the dreaded “NO” that was ingrained in us all weekend was happening…the business was being spammed by some!!! OMG!
I caught a post regarding someone’s dislike and distaste for using FB for BB and it’s business. I had to speak up and stand up for the Coaches (like myself) who do it for the RIGHT reasons. It’s not for popularity or who’s the best at selling Shakeology, it’s for the prizes!! JUST KIDDING!! I mean, it’s honestly for the people who need to exercise and eat right and have no idea where to begin, need accountability, ideas, motivation, products, etc. It’s for fighting obesity in America. It’s about the children who are becoming larger each year. It’s for sedentary lifestyles. It’s for you.
All in all, I love what I do. I admit the negative feelings were a bit overwhelming and I took a whole evening to just absorb it all and re-affirm my passion for this job. I want to change people’s ideas on fitness…even if it’s one person at a time. I want everyone to feel confident, beautiful (or handsome), sexy and capable. I grew up very insecure, with horrible body confidence. I thought if I just starved myself or tried some wierd fad that I would achieve the feeling of security. I learned it isn’t possible. I learned you have all the control you need to create the changes. It doesn’t take a lot of money. It doesn’t even take a lot of time. It just takes a plan and accountability and continuity. This was my very first Beachbody Summit and it was absolutely amazing! Coming in on Friday morning, I met Christine Dwyer, a huge success in the Beachbody team and someone who works closely with Chalene Johnson; best known for TurboJam, ChaLEAN Extreme and the upcoming; TurboFire!
From there, I went on the finally meet my coach and mentor, Coni Constantine! She really is an inspiration; so caring and friendly, you can’t help but like her instantly. We sat in the Team Genesis meeting and were impressed with the energy and motivating speeches that were the main focus of the day. We listened to Carl Daikeler, CEO of BB, Tracy Morrow; part of the P90X plus videos and BB Diamond Coach, and so many of the successful members and leaders of this company.
That evening was the exciting and much-anticipated workout with all of the Beachbody trainers. The room was absolutely jam-packed! They asked us to move and we would step on fellow coaches who were a few inches away all around us! It began with Debbie Sieber’s of Slim in 6 routines and she warmed us up and got us all to stretch out, which was quite interesting since space was so limiting! Then it moved on to Leandro with his famous “Brazilian Butt Lift” moves and I heard the men moaning and chuckling from the moves that seemed a bit “out of their comfort zones”. The energy pumped up next with Brett Hoebel of “RevABs” routines as he mixed martial art movements with Capoeira and dance moves…all done using your core muscles as a base. Chalene Johnson came next and incorporated some of her TurboJam moves then teased us with some of her new and upcoming moves from TurboFire. Wow! It is quite an intense program and I really am excited to start it when it’s released next month! Then, of course, came Shaun T. His energy and enthusiasm was contagious! Insanity, here we come! It was intense, as are his videos and I look forward (with a bit nervousness) to his upcoming program titled; “Insanity Asylum”…gulp.
Tony Horton finished us…I mean, it…off with some strength moves. Mostly pushups and core moves that had us flat on the floor by the end! It was a sweaty-fun filled workout.
Saturday and Sunday were filled with gatherings, workouts, meetings and more. I will write about Saturday and the events that I attended in the next post….
