My Beachbody Caribbean Cruise Experience!!

It’s been over a week now that I’ve been home from our amazing journey to the Caribbean and now am able to sit down to write about the events that I’ll never forget!

We docked the ship, Oasis of The Seas, on Saturday, March 12th in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  The ship, to say the least, is enormous!!  I heard it’s the second largest cruise ship to date!  Our room was a large room on the 12th floor with a balcony to enjoy our view!  I have to say, this was breathtaking and I could only imagine what the rest of the week would include.

As we sailed out of Ft. Lauderdale and into the deep blue sea, Beachbody had a closed party in the Solarium deck/bar.  We heard from Michael Niemand and Carl Daikeler speak about what was to come and also to toast our favorite drink of the day, Shakeology, it’s second year birthday!

We were able to reconnect with Coaches we already knew, as well as meet and visit with those who never met our acquaintance.  I could tell it was going to be a fun-filled evening when I noticed some “party-crashers” make their way into our party via the back staircase!

Some of the highlights from the week included, daily workouts with Shaun T. and Chalene Johnson, my breakfast of choice; oatmeal!,  Beachbody meetings and business building tips, the chance to mingle with corporate leaders and top Beachbody Coaches, getting lost on the ship that was our “home” for a week, sharing our business with fellow-cruisers, excursions in Nassau, Bahamas; St. Thomas & St. John; as well as St. Maarten.

Our excursion choices were; a bus tour of Nassau, a hike and beach lounging on St. John and zip-lining in St. Maarten!  Needless to say, we were quite active on this cruise.  This was a welcome to the new and amazing foods that were offered aboard the ship!  Even though we were able to “let loose” at times, our healthier habits kept us from going completely off track for long.

The troubling realizations came in seeing most of the “cruisers” indulging as much as possible in “bad” food and drink choices and lack of movement.  I’m all for enjoying your vacations, but does that mean jumping aboard your cruise ship and promptly engorging on doughnuts and mixed drinks?  It’s about making proper choices and being accountable to moving your body to accomodate the extra calories.

I feel we were on this cruise ship not only to enjoy ourselves and re-engage with fellow Beachbody successful coaches, but also to see first-hand the responsibility we hold in this country in helping others learn how to reverse the high rate of obesity.  I don’t think most people have the proper knowledge in how to change their habits.  We are here to start a new trend!

Beachbody took up about 10% of the ship’s population and we heard frequently how people were surprised regarding the “leaner” and “fitter” people aboard this ship than they had seen on others.  This was an eye-opening response and my hope is that our team was able to touch some of the cruisers to start changing their lives with our help.  In doing so, we can also inspire some to become role-models in their communities by signing up to Coach with our company.

I am committed to earning next year’s trip and share this business and habits with more people each year!  I hear too often people tell me, “you’re lucky you can work out regularly” or “you’re lucky that you’re ‘skinny'”…not so much!  It’s not at all about luck, but about priorities.  We are all busy, we all have families and responsibilities.  The difference is that we found how to put our health and fitness into the forefront of our days, weeks and months and this alone helps us stay healthy.

The statistics on cruise ships is overwhelming; the average cruiser gains 1-2 pounds each DAY on a cruise ship!  That is unacceptable, in my opinion!  There are many choices besides eating as much as possible and sitting around all day and night.  We visited the beautiful gym aboard the ship, saw many types of activities to enjoy and noticed many healthier choice food options.  I say, start with small steps.  Enjoy yourself in many ways, not all including foods!  Take the time to “live” your life by engaging in activities you would not ordinarily take part in.

This is your life and only you can achieve the goals you set for yourself.  If you need help, look around you.  Find success partners to help keep you accountable to the important tasks you must take each day.  Stop doubting yourself; you are stronger than you give yourself credit for!  Do something each week that is “scary” but doesn’t kill you!

If all else fails you, please feel free to connect with a coach on our team.  We are here to help anyone who needs assistance.  You are not alone; feel free to message me your comments!
