Healthy NO BAKE energy bites (kid approved!)

Here’s one of our family faves!!

No Bake Energy Bites… the perfect weekend/afternoon/anytime snack! And they’re super easy to whip up and even easier to eat up!!

Ingredients:
-1/2 cup all-natural peanut butter
-1/3 cup honey
-1 tsp vanilla extract
-1 cup old-fashioned oats (raw)
-2/3 cup sweetened shredded coconut, toasted and cooled
-1/2 cup ground golden flaxseed meal
-6 Tbsp mini chocolate chips

Directions:
1. In a mixing bowl, stir together peanut butter, honey and vanilla extract.
2. Add remaining ingredients and stir until evenly coated.
3. Transfer mixture to refrigerator or freezer and chill until set.
4. Remove from refrigerator and shape into 1-inch balls.
5. Store in refrigerator in an airtight container.

Nutrition Basics 101

I’m not the most knowledgable person in exact nutrition…but I do know after umpteen years what works and doesn’t work for the average woman. I know how hard it is to get back into shape after pregnancy (and not 1, but 3 1/2); I know how hard it is to stay focused on my goals as a mom.

I know how stress throws me off and makes me want to eat the entire contents of my refrigerator and pantry, and I’m not partial to what is available. I also know what it means to gain weight and feel out of control. I know what it means to starve myself for as long as I could take it; and then later binge because my body was going crazy for foods, calories and nutrition.

I can go on but I’ll spare the details. Bottom line is that I was at rock bottom. I was working in the fitness industry; leading group exercise classes and training clients all the while knowing what I needed to do to reach my own goals and not quite knowing how to change the problems that were holding me back.

The secret isn’t in finding the right program; the secret isn’t in finding the right diet formula or exercise plan or anything at all. The secret is to get to the CORE of what is holding us back and then finding support to hold onto when we fall.

And fall we will…

The common theme that I’ve been coming up against these days is that we have a zillion and one workout programs; diet products; supplement; vitamins; diet plans; apps; gyms; etc…

and yet, the obesity epidemic continues to GROW.

Why???

Because we don’t want to get to the uncomfortable parts. We don’t want to sacrifice our “quick fixes” or our fast food stops or the weekend binges, etc. It’s too hard, is what I’m hearing.

So the cycle continues. We eat too much. We feel bad. We starve or take diet products that aren’t good for our bodies and then we binge again because our bodies don’t like it and is begging us to wake up.

WAKE UP!! Diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, cancer, high blood pressures, and the list goes on. These are not just list of issues “some” people deal with. This is what we are setting ourselves up for and what we are teaching the next generations to do along with us.

Why? Because it’s easy. 

Why? Because everyone else is doing it and we don’t want to standout.

Why? Because we don’t need to right now. 

Start with educating yourself and your family. Start with some simple steps and lead by example. Start right now. Just start.

Tips to losing the last 5-10 lbs

Let’s be honest, those last 5-10 lbs we have to lose always seem to get stuck on our bodies like super glue, right? It’s so much easier to lose the initial weight we have in the beginning of our new programs and goals than these final suckers. Have you ever been stuck at a plateau before and not quite sure what the heck you’re supposed to do either…so you decide to just do the same things over and over again?

Yes, I know this is true cuz I’ve been there too. Definition: INSANITY 

I was always so excited in the beginning of my journey (more times than I care to count) because it just seemed so much simpler to drop those first pounds and inches, right? I mean, you can cut out the sodas, and the sugars and the breads and all of a sudden POOF! The scale responds in the right direction and we think we have found the perfect plan at last!

But somewhere along the lines, we get stuck. And when I say “stuck“, it’s like those pounds are never going to budge from our bodies! I know for me, it’s happy to sit in my waist and hips. ugh….

So what’s a girl to do? I’m so glad that you asked! 😉 This is my honest and real life recipe for getting to your goals for good.

Let’s start with our workouts (cuz honestly, it is the easiest thing to focus on first!)

Have you been doing the same workouts and/or exercises for more than 60-90 days?

Since I’ve committed to better progress and change,  I switch my program every 8-12 weeks. It not only keeps my body happy and changing, but it also keeps my mind from getting bored and slacking off. It’s within the 60-90 day time frame, that our bodies have adapted to the workouts and needs a change to be challenged again.

Another important aspect to change is in the workout intensity and the weight selections used in these 60-90 day plans. If you keep doing push-ups on your knees but after a few weeks, you can rock out more than 20 reps without breaking too much of a sweat; it’s time to start with at least one or more reps on your toes to up the ante. How about the intensity in your cardio and weight lifting? Do you just go through it ho-hum style cuz you can…or do you commit to push to your limits as often as possible?

If we aren’t struggling then we won’t change…and honestly, it’s going to be a better idea to just get some extra sleep instead if we aren’t willing to push the extra mile. It’s also important to note that we need to work all areas of fitness; cardio, strength training and flexibility.

If you are scared of lifting weights that are heavier than 5lbs and doing cardio for umpteen hours, you really need to change it up more strength training. True story. This will allow you to lose fat, gain lean muscle and raise your metabolism which all leads to better results than just mere cardio.

Now let’s talk about nutrition. This topic is pretty deep so I’m going to keep it basic but touch on why it’s our first priority if we really want to make lasting changes. Are you someone who eats less than 1200 calories a day? Are you someone who doesn’t count or measure portions and calories at all? Are you someone who just eats “clean” and considers that a success all it’s own? Are you someone who believes you can eat all you desire bcuz you’ll be working out for 2 hours or more in the gym after?

Any of these issues above will lead to the dreaded stall we are talking about. When I got to my breaking point and was sick and tired of going up and down in my plateau of the last few pounds, I knew there was something I needed to change that would push my body into the direction I was working so hard to reach. I just didn’t know what that meant. My solution? Sign up for a bikini competition!

Yes, I did. The. Hardest. Thing. I. Have. Ever. Done.

And I have to say that I’ve run a marathon before.

The reason I share this with you is that the bikini competition was the push I needed to scare myself into making new changes that would WORK. No more dabbling in the process and thinking “I’m close enough and can have this extra treat” 

I put skin in the game. I plopped down money to hire a professional competition trainer to tweak my meal plans and workouts for 6 months. I paid over $700 for my custom-made and crystal blinged out bikini for the competition. I was ALL IN and when I ask my current clients to give me the same focus; I can say that I know what that feels like. It’s scary as all get out. But you know why it’s scary?

No, you don’t have to do what I was going to do; and get on stage in front of judges in a bikini…but you do have to get the heck out of your comfort zone!!

That 5-10 lbs is not just extra “weight”; it’s your COMFORTABLE SKIN!!

Okay, here’s the scariest part of all. If you want to truly change your body and lose those last few pounds here is what “ALL IN” means for at least a month or so.

  1. No alcohol (Yes, I said it!)
  2. No whole grain breads, waffles or bagels.
  3. Carbs equal; quinoa, brown rice, sweet potatoes and oatmeal
  4. Cut back or cut out dairy
  5. Cut out sodium.
  6. Get back to basics.
  7. Cut out the FLUFF…you know what I’m talking about!
  8. Go all out and accept no excuses.
  9. Invest in supplements to bridge gaps in your nutrition and help your body repair and recover as needed.
  10. Know what you need for YOUR body and not a cookie-cutter program you find on pinterest. (yes, I said it)

Trust me, if you follow the program and follow what I’m saying, you WILL reach your goals. You WILL enjoy a tight belly and lifted booty and less fluff around the middle. But keep spinning your wheels where you are today and you will likely stay exactly where you are now.

LIKE BBQ Chicken Pizza?

Like BBQ chicken pizza?? Okay, I’m not claiming this is “clean” or as healthy as possible but oh my goodness…it WAS amazing! 🙂

So good, in fact, that my boys requested it the NEXT night for dinner again!! whaat? When does that happen? So here we go:

Pizza Crust:

1 1/3 cup warm water

1 pkg. dry yeast (I buy a bulk bag and freeze it and use 2Tbsp for “one package”)

2 Tbsp. oil

2 tsp. salt

4 1/4 cups flour (any kind you like)

Directions:

  1. Dissolve the yeast in warm water. (all of it) Then either put it into a mixer (I’m lazy so I just keep it in a big bowl and mix it with a wooden spoon); and add the oil, salt and flour. Mix and knead until smooth.
  2. Cover the dough and let it rise for 60-90 minutes. I like to place the dough into a Pam sprayed bowl and then turn the dough upside down (so both sides are covered with the Pam) ….funny thought; when I hear the name “Pam”, I’m reminded of Kramer on Seinfeld saying the name “Pam” 😀 okay..back to the recipe…I then cover the bowl with saran wrap (kind of funny that these products are known as a popular brand name, right?)  and then I place a towel on top of the wrap and put the bowl into my non-heated oven to rise. Less drafts and better rising!
  3. Roll out the dough into desired shapes and sizes. I either make 2-4 round pizza shapes or 2 rectangular shapes.

BBQ Chicken & Homemade Sauce:

Funny story here too; I was hoping to use a boughten BBQ sauce to use on this pizza but we had none in the cupboards and I’m too lazy to run to the store for this one thing…so homemade was the reasonable next option!

BBQ Sauce Recipe:

1/4 cup water

1/4 cup vinegar

1/2 cup ketchup

3 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce

1 1/2 tsp seasoned salt

1/2 tsp pepper

1/4 c finely chopped onion

Directions:

Put all ingredients in large pot. Bring to boil. Let simmer for 15 minutes.

Now onto the pizza!!!

  1. Cook up chicken and shred. (I did this step the day before so it was so much easier and took less time in the prep!)
  2. Top prepared pizza dough with BBQ sauce.
  3. Arrange shredded chicken on top of sauce.
  4. Add any other toppings.
  5. Sprinkle with shredded cheese.
  6. Bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes and ENJOY!!

How do you lose weight and keep it off for good?

How do you lose weight and keep it off for good? Have you been trying to lose weight and not sure why you keep repeating the same cycle? Lose weight, gain weight. Lose weight, gain weight. What is it that is creating this never-ending cycle of craziness?  Have you ever called yourself a “failure” and considered giving up altogether and just admitting defeat?

I know that pain. I was stuck in it for over 15 years and now that I’ve found balance; I’m not surprised that most of the people I talk to today are also stuck in this cycle, with no idea how to get out.

I will be honest about weight loss. It is one of the hardest balances to maintain because of how we go about it. We treat weight loss as though food is the enemy. Yes, food can act like a drug at times by how it makes us feel; but it is not the problem. The real issues lie in how we perceive foods and how we feel about ourselves over years of ups and downs. Think about it; an alcoholic or a chain-smoker would need to give up their vice “cold turkey” in order to become free from the “drug” addictions, right? But with foods, you would die if you gave it up. So what do we do instead?

We take the next step that usually seems so “easy” which is to follow the hyped “diets plans” that promise quick results and the perfect body just by simply following their “magic plan”.

Well, I’m going to burst that bubble for you right now because it’s been going on for much too long now.

There is NO MAGIC PLAN OR SOLUTION! NONE!

There will never be a magic pill that can do what we need it to do for our bodies and there will never be a food or a secret that will be unveiled in order for us to reach our goals and dreams for that desired body shape and weight we have always dreamt of.

Why? Because by focusing on these “bandaids” to our problems, we are never getting to the core. So, what should we do instead?

Honestly, it takes gosh-darned hard work. Yes, there are going to be some ways to make it all easier (as I will share with you what has worked for me) but the work and the effort will all still be a non-negotiable for your own success. Bummer, right? Actually, I believe this is really the silver lining that we’ve been searching for all this time. Since we are not true “failures” any longer, but just simply failing at a no-win solution; we have more power than we ever thought possible!

I have found that we tend to fall into two categories that seem to be hurting our efforts:

  1. We eat well below what is necessary for our bodies to sustain it’s primary needs. And then we expect our bodies to sustain the needs as we add in extra exercise, (which is just more stress) and “diet/processed” foods (which do nothing to fuel our bodies in any way at all, and instead start to break it down)  – AND/OR –
  2. We eat what we want, when we want it because we consider the fact that we can work out and exercise to the point of over training. We also may be using energy inducing products/caffeine drinks, thinking that this will all help to “burn it all off” and more…                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Well, both of these methods are failures.

Would you succeed at first?

Sure! But that’s not saying much at all. Take for example, one diet I have seen in the past called, “the candy bar diet”.  I remember hearing all about it and thinking “Wow! Eat all the candy that you want and still LOSE WEIGHT??” #genius, right?

WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!!

Oh my goodness, that’s a tempting thought when we are stuck in these viscous cycles of craving sugars, fats and unhealthy foods but this is NOT going to help us at all!

Consider just for a moment, all of the foods and all of  the choices we eat in a given day or week. Now think for a moment of cutting them ALL out; one by one. What would happen, at first? Obviously if we are eating less; foods and food groups, we will lose some weight, right?  OF COURSE! This has always been the case, and probably why we get stuck in this cycle.

So for example, in the Atkins diet you cut out most everything that isn’t high protein and fat. Even in this “candy bar” diet, you are cutting out MOST everything that is good for you but the body only knows the fact that’s it’s getting in lower calories and less food choices.  So, it will lose weight in the beginning. Now think for a moment, what this looks like inside of your body.

If you are eating LESS calories but it’s all filled with TOO much of something that will lead to another bigger problem; and later down the road, leads to health problems and health scares?  Too much sugar? Leads to more weight gain over time; leads to diabetes, leads to heart issues, and more. How about too much protein? How about too many carbs? How about too much additives? How about too much of everything???

Now, change needs to happen; and it needs to happen with us first understanding that we are not just here to reach this magical number on the scale. We must focus, instead, on the true health benefits of what we are doing to ourselves day after day.

Now I know it’s not as sexy to consider our health and our long-term good habits versus just losing some weight for summer season or a reunion or a wedding, right? But this IS honestly the #1 reason that we are becoming more obese and more unhealthy and that we are creating more health issues for ourselves than anything else. We need to stop this NOW!!! Why Network Marketing SUCKS

So let’s talk a bit about network marketing, ok?

You know you’ve been seeing all the hype on social media these days from Network Marketers and their products, businesses and stories and you’re either fed up with it or slightly intrigued.

What gives? Why so much hoopla about drinking the Kool-aid in one of these formats? Let me lay it out in terms of my story and what I’ve learned along the way of my doubts and beliefs. Let’s also compare notes on how it measures up to buying into a franchise and/or staying with our current J.O.B.s.

There are countless companies out there to join. You can sign up to be a rep for skincare, nail art, lotions, soaps, wrap things, pills, oils, potions, boomerangs (well, maybe not boomerangs yet but let’s just give it some time!)

In all honesty, it can seem completely ridiculous and overwhelming and honestly a bit noisy, am I right? But let’s dissect it a bit further and why I’ve realized in the past 2 1/2 years that it’s something I believe everyone with a pulse should have their hand in. Here’s my story and why I’m sticking to it! (although I share my experience with Beachbody, feel free to swap your own favorite company here if you have different goals)

  1. Why are there so many??? The problem with so many options is getting fed up with the noisy people who are scrambling to build their business. Yes, it can be a “problem” but I like to find a new “solution” instead. You with me? So you are getting “invited” to check out these companies right and left, right? You may even be added to these “groups” on Facebook where they promote their products (and then the company too) But how do you know what fits you best? Here’s what to do first…Look into the companies. Check out the products they offer and see if their mission statements stands up to what you can get behind proudly. Look at the compensation plan and follow a few successful reps you can relate with to see how they are running their business models. Does it speak to you? Do you feel that you could do what they are doing? Does it seem simple enough or is it complicated and confusing to you?  That’s the first step…finding the right option that fits you and having integrity with the company you represent. If needed, reach out to a few reps and “interview” them and ask how they train new reps. Do they have a training set up? Or do they just sign you up and run? Are there a million meetings to attend weekly and do you enjoy the face to face meetings or do you prefer more online and phone accountability? These will all help you eliminate businesses that don’t fit your “mold”. I chose Beachbody. Simply put, I didn’t do the initial investigating because I joined a zillion years ago when there wasn’t much talk yet about network marketing. I was working as a trainer and had purchased P90X over the infomercial and met my “coach” who helped me get started. The reason I chose this company? Because it was about fitness, health and tons of support. I have since learned that we always evolve and the changes we’ve made (and that I’ve made) are so in line with where and how I want my life to proceed. No regrets and I wouldn’t dream of joining another opportunity. (that’s the type of satisfaction you’ll want to feel after about 3 months in)
  2. Get started! This was my first hiccup. I did nothing. I actually listened to the steps my upline “coach” set out for me and became excited by her vision and success; but I really didn’t see myself in it quite yet. I hadn’t set up the vision for how I could benefit long term. I was still stuck in the “J.O.B” mentality of a personal trainer. I was busy trading my hours for my income…something most of us become accustomed to doing and never realize if it’s creating a stress in our lives. I started to realize I was feeling overly stressed out with my time spent doing my “J.O.B.” and there was not much room to grow financially…it felt like I was stuck. If you have ever, (or do now) feel like this…pay attention and don’t keep pushing it aside!! Although, I did get started at first, (in the initial training phase); I hit a breaking point when it was time to fly on my own. Time to move to step 3….
  3. Find your vision. Once I got to my first “breaking point” as a Beachbody coach, I remember telling my upline that I was done. I recall quite vividly telling her “This is not working! I am working so hard on my training job and trying to run this business but it’s not giving me back enough of what I need.” Yes, I said that. And do you know what she replied back with? NOTHING. She said absolutely nothing. She just heard me out and told me she respected my decision either way. Wait a minute. What the WHAAAT? How dare she not fight me back? How DARE she not try to talk me into staying on??? I was so pissed off and hung up the phone thinking I had said my peace and was going to quit. Then the reality of it all came slamming back into my face…this was my business. I had started with no true goals and once I expected something in return…I hadn’t proceeded to make any changes in my daily efforts. I was looking for my upline to treat me like she was my boss and this was not the case. In network marketing, we work with our leaders and our team mates but we never work for them.  I realized I needed to put some effort of my own into my business if I was going to succeed or fail accurately. So I did just that.
  4. Fail like a champion. When you first get a new “j.o.b.”; you go through some initial training and then you are set up to clock in and clock out each day and told what you can and cannot do and told how much you will earn by following these rules. Right? I know that as a trainer and group fitness instructor/boot camp owner, I had this crazy notion that you “do more” and you will “receive more”…right? Wrong! Working for someone else is simply working for their vision. Never yours. Let me share a quick story of when this message was seared into my brain…I was working with this one gym/corporation and had done some really amazing work within the company. I traded extra hours when I didn’t have to; I went above and beyond in helping out the members and my clients; I showed up to help out co-workers as they needed; I just gave my all. Now, it does feel good to do more for others but even that good feeling is made better by being rewarded in the long run. You with me? So, here it was…my “10 Year Anniversary” with the company. I felt like a true badass. I had traded so many hours away from my kids, my own training and just out of my comfort level….that I just knew something was coming to pay me back! It had been a few years in that they stopped giving us yearly reviews and raises, so I had summed up that this was going to finally be the time I was given the bigger pay-raise! The morning of my anniversary, (like most every morning at that time) I showed up early and was setting up the room for my fitness class. I was pleasantly surprised when the general manager showed up and whispered in my ear, “When you are ready to start, I’d like to take the mic from you and make an announcement to the class”…he said, quite excitedly. I was soo pumped up! Finally! All my hard work and dedication to stand above others was going to pay off! What would be my reward? What would they be presenting me with today?? It came time to hand the mic over to him as my class members stood watching to see what was going on…(weren’t we going to have class? I could see on their faces) And then the magical moment came. He took the mic and and gave a heartfelt speech of accolades for me and how much time and energy and sacrifice I had given over the past 10 years… and then…(drum roll time!) He said the words I had been anticipated for so long…”We present you with this gift to let you know how much we appreciate you”…and he handed me a plain envelope with my name written on the front. I thanked him profusely, knowing quite well that something spectacular was waiting inside for me and then taught an amazing class! Everyone came up to congratulate me after class and tell me how valuable I was to each and every one of them…and trust me, this was something that got me up in the morning because I came to love and respect these members as my own family! Once everyone had left the room, I decided I’d “peek” inside the envelope to see what awaited my inside. Oh, the anticipation was killing me!!! What could it be? A check? A promotion? Something more? I pulled out the card that said “congratulations” on the front and opened it up as excitedly as a child on would open a gift on Christmas morning. What did I find inside??? A handwritten note of gratitude for 10 years of service and signed by the general manager and the fitness director. Period. I checked inside the envelope because I was sure I had missed the actual gift. Still nothing. It was 10 years of hard work and hours of sweat (literally) given back with nothing more than a signature. That moment was a moment I will never forget and it was in this moment that I knew that working for someone else would only pay me for the hours and the time I put into the work..nothing less and nothing more. It was at this time I started to look for another opportunity. I worked for years to build my own private training business and boot camp franchise business. It failed time and again only because I didn’t have enough time, energy and money to do more than every other fitness professional was doing. I loved the fitness field but it was seriously killing me in spirit, time and passion.
  5. Grow in your own way. As I said in the step above, I worked on starting my own franchise in a bootcamp business venture but realized the amount of money I would have needed to come up with and the time and energy that would be needed to get the business kicked off from ground zero was more than I wanted to invest with 3 young children and a busier schedule than I was happy with already. I just didn’t have the excitement to spend another 10 or so years, in building up a business and paying back the hundreds of thousands of dollars I would have had to borrow from the bank to start this venture. Defeated in more ways than I was proud of, I settled into my regular “work hours” once again. It was at this time that I was briefly introduced to the Beachbody “coaching” opportunity, but I didn’t truly understand what it meant. Like I mentioned before, Network marketing wasn’t something that I had heard too much about yet and I rationalized that being a “coach” was simply cheering people on who were taking on their own P90x and Insanity programs. I was only half-correct. Also, like I mentioned above, I signed up as a coach just to see what it was all about but not really that interested in seeing the true potential. Cut to 3 years into my business when I was forced into making a decision to continue working 12-15 hours a day in the gym and making the same income as I was already earning in my “part time” business as a coach. This made me do a double take. How could the numbers be right, I wondered? I recalculated the incomes again and again; only to come up with the same answers. It was at this point that I had to decide to give one of the positions up for good. Which would I choose? Option 1: working 12-15 hours a day or Option 2: working whenever I wanted for however long I wanted but generally 4-5 hours a day and ultimately be earning the same amount of money. The deciding factor was also in knowing I had reached my financial “ceiling” at the gym and would have to add more hours to my work day, in order to create more income. With my Beachbody business, I hadn’t even scratched the surface and would be able to create my own residual income as I grew a team. I chose to quit my job and did so that week.
  6. Treat the business as a franchise made FOR you. Since I was going to commit to my business, I had no other option but to make it work. Like mentioned before, I was working this and my “day job” and both were bringing me the same amount of income but I would have to double up my at home biz to match the full income that was being earned with both positions. So instead of having to work for nothing by buying into a franchise and needing to pay back the hundreds of thousands of dollars needed to start it; I would be making all the money and earn all the perks I desired by treating this like a true franchise. As a network marketer (again in any company you decide to get started with), you are able to reach out and distribute a product that has already been established by a reputable company. You benefit from all of the advantages gained as a franchise while overcoming many of the disadvantages…score! You can expect a good network marketing company to have some level of branding in place so that consumers already recognize the product that you are offering and this is half the battle with product knowledge. In Beachbody, I’m sure you’ve seen the many infomercials that they pay for with the variety of workout programs that we offer. They spend millions of dollars each year just to share this information. Brand recognition is not a problem! (although it has been know for most people to call “P90X”…”PX90” but who’s keeping track?) As a coach in a growing network, we have access to the products and programs that Beachbody offers and although we earn commissions on all products sold through our online “stores”; learning to differentiate that we are the brand, and not Beachbody is the make or break it rule of thumb for a successful; versus unsuccessful coach. With so many people working on sharing the same products, our main concern should be how we stand out and offer value to the people who connect with us. And honestly, if this is our biggest challenge, how awesome is that?? We don’t ever have to stock products (been there, done that before in another company); we don’t ever have to ship products; we don’t ever have to deal with customer service (we have our “reps” with the company doing that for us!); we don’t have to rent an office or store front; we don’t have to paint the walls or hire employees or deal with uniforms, etc. We don’t even have to host “home parties” if we don’t like to.  There is no start up capital needed if you decide to become a distributor and team builder; versus a franchisee. You simply pay a small fee to join the network (and with Beachbody, it is simply purchasing the products you need to get fit and healthy anyway) and the rest is up to you. In some companies, there may be an annual fee or mandatory conference participation but with Beachbody, it’s up to you if you want to run the biz or keep it as a discount option. No obligations ever. You can work your business like I do, and run it entirely as an online and home based business. You can run it as a community business as other coaches are doing, quite successfully. You can even choose to do a bit of both. This opportunity as a network marketer, allows you to work in your free time if you still work a “J.O.B.” and you are not forced to sacrifice the full-time job that is paying your bills. As the new business venture grows (like mine did), you have the option to to full-time; or to keep both business rolling and know you are in control of your income.
  7. It’s not “EASY” but it’s worth it if you love it. Like any other true business venture, you will need to invest time and energy into building your new business. You’ll need to dive into training and stay consistent to the basic steps that successful marketers are having. The system itself isn’t challenging in effort, but consistency and faith are going to go a long way as you are starting out in the first year or two. What other business field offers you massive growth in just the first 2 years if you are serious and highly committed? Obviously, you won’t be paid more if you are not doing more. This business venture is much easier to fit into any schedule and the flexibility that is offered by the network marketing model.                   As a Beachbody coach, we know we fit into the “MLM” model but the difference stands out because we help with the important stages of helping people create happier and more fulfilling lives. It’s not just about the business; we offer a total solution to fitness and health and supplementation and everything else in between. Our CEO, Carl Daikeler, has even offered up his own acronym that differentiates Beachbody from all of the other companies out there. We are a “PHP” company; a “People Helping People” company.Quite simply, not everyone becomes successful in this industry. This is not a “get rich scheme” as most people hope it is. Our income is in direct reflection to the lives we help to change. Period. No more waiting for a promotion outside of our control. So there you have it. Why so many “haters” believe that Network Marketing sucks. This is not the work force taught to us in school. This is not the path that we are given when we are enrolled in school and taught that we should all attend college to earn a degree and follow that degree to lock down the job of our dreams. Nothing is wrong with getting a college degree and working in the desired field of choice…but nothing is wrong with choosing a new and proven way if the need and passion is there either. I believe this mentality will one day be taught in schools too. Until then, this is new territory…and it’s kind of like we are paving the way!

Why it’s never our fault

Funny how plans go, right? I mean, we all start out with a goal in mind in any particular area and sooner or later, reality hits and we are forced to make a decision of instant gratification or long term success.

I know when I set plans for myself in terms of getting better results in my fitness, health and business areas; I write out a cool plan of action, with my daily “to do’s” and goals; I’m fired up and excited beyond measure. It seriously feels like this time is the different!!! 

And I don’t disappoint myself in the beginning of any challenge; business, fitness, personal, etc. I am always so excited and I dive right in. Type A personality right here, thank you very much!! 😀 I love to take on a challenge and to make it my project to move towards perfection.

There always comes a point of resistance. For workouts, it can be a busy schedule change or lack of time; for weight loss, it could be hunger pangs or lack of planning out meals; and for business goals, it can simply mean learning a new technique or stepping outside of our comfort zones. We think that if we wait until we get “motivated”; or just for a better time…then things will start to fall back into place.

What we don’t realize (and what I’ve been studying in depth this year), is that motivation comes from action. Without action, there will be no motivation. It’s a never ending cycle of disappointments once we hit our ceilings in any goal plan. A “ceiling” is simply our highest point of success to this time. It’s the place we’ve mastered at least once before but for some reason (usually our mindsets, our beliefs or our programming from past experiences and people) we can’t seem to bust through that area. It’s our “wall”…or at least, that’s what I like to call it.

When I was doing Insanity Max:30; I hit that wall quite often. In fact, that’s the genius behind this specific program from Shaun T…it’s about hitting our “wall” or what he refers to as our “MAX OUT TIME” and taking note of it in order to push further (even by just 1 second is the goal) the next time we take on that particular workout.

It’s seriously the point of breakdowns. I recall feeling like I could break down and cry almost every time that I hit that point. Never before in another program had I been challenged in this way. Never before in my life had I realized that we put up our own walls in order to not feel as though we needed to BREAK down through it. Who wants to feel like crying, for heavens’ sake? Who gets excited by being uncomfortable and even miserable at points? But it’s in these times that change is made.

I know you’ve heard the saying, “When there is no challenge; there is no change.” and that’s exactly the point. If we stay comfortable in our own safe boxes…we not only stay the same; but we start to regress. We are either moving forward or backwards, depending on our choices and our actions. I’ve realized that I’ve accepted this plateau in my life without giving it much thought. It’s so much easier to place blame on outside sources or people.

It’s not MY fault…nobody else is helping me” “I can’t want this for anyone else so I guess I’ll stay the same”..etc

Have you ever blamed someone or something else for your unhappiness or lack of growth? We tend to blame our work and family schedules over getting fit and healthy. We blame our finances on not being able to do the things we want to do most. We blame our society, our community, our spouses, our children, our parents, our siblings, our co-workers…are you getting the picture?

Yep…

But the only person that is responsible for where we are at in any given moment is staring back at us in the mirror.
