How to motivate your kids to be healthier

So let’s talk about food and old habits.

I mean, just the sound of food sounds like it’s going to be fun, right?

But what if I said, let’s talk about good nutritional foods? Did I lose you? Wake up!!! 🙂 lol

Seriously though, just the fact of me starting a new program and meal plan (like the new 22 Minute Hard Corps), makes me realize how our bodies resist changes along the way. For example, I ate a good breakfast from my planned meal and then my Shakeology with berries and peanut butter for snack and it all seemed good…

until, after lunch. I don’t know what it is about this time, but it’s like my body has a radar for 2pm and wants me to EAT like never before! Now, I am not new to this so I understand my problems.

  1. I’m starting a new plan and my body is not used to it. In response, it reacts with hunger, cravings and other annoying feelings based on what it deems as “my normal eats”…and thinks I may be starving. HAH! Right?
  2. The habits that I’ve created up to this point have made my body expect to eat something at about this time so me not giving in only makes those cravings get louder in order to gain my attention.
  3. This is normal and as long as I know I’m getting in the right amount of calories, nutrition and supplements to sustain my body’s needs and changes at this time, I can rest assured that I won’t die from starvation as my body is seemingly concerned with.

So, it all comes down to mindset. I don’t like the word willpower because it makes me think that I am not strong enough to stick to my plans. In reality, our bodies are actually working against us sticking to the new plans because it’s different. Different is not something our bodies like too much of. But in order to create new “normalcies”, we must get through the difficult “different” times and issues. Much like a new workout program, have you ever tried a new workout and been extremely miserable and challenged through it all…only to be ridiculously sore after the fact? That’s change at it’s best! Our bodies respond to changes by simply changing. That’s what we wanted to do in the first place, right? So why do we give up when we are faced with some resistance?

Yesterday, I shared my meal plans and I’m committed to staying on track today and being completely honest with you on how I do. My workout was a success (complete with sandbag! My new BFF) at 5am and then my 13 year old son started it today too..but since he won’t workout with his mom; he did his workout at 6am. I’m not mad! 😉

Get this….I really have to brag! I know as a mom, we want our kids to do and be their best. Right? Of course! It’s what we do!

Over the years of working on myself; fitness and food issues alike…they saw me working out, eating foods, opting to not eat certain foods, drinking water, readjusting to new habits, learning new ways to figure it out and although they never seemed much interested (maybe even a bit annoyed at times! haha),  but they were always watching.

Who’s watching you day to day?  #ialwaysfeellikesomeoneiswatchingme #1980sgirl

Cut to the present day and time; I have never required or even suggested that they do a workout program or eat how I eat. I just did it for myself for years. I have finally figured out the best way for my body to be happy and not get too restrictive. They see me enjoy pastries, fun foods and more along the way; but they also see me workout weekly, choose healthy foods most of the time and drink my water and shakeology daily. It’s been over 6 years in the Beachbody world; and it’s been over 25 years just working on my fitness and health goals that has brought me to this point. I consider myself kind of an “expert” 😉

So about 2 years ago, my daughter came to me and asked which workout program I’d recommend for her. She was running a lot but wasn’t happy with her results. I told her she could continue running but she would also have to add in some strength training, flexibility, rest days and full nutrition to balance it all out for best results. This was before summer season and she was highly motivated. So we started her on P90X3. Then she moved onto 21 Day Fix; 21 Day Fix Extreme, Body Beast, Piyo, Master’s Hammer & Chisel..to name a few. She started adding Shakeology to her daily meal plan and following how I ate as her food plans. Then my elder son asked me about adding muscle to his lean frame. We worked in some Body Beast and added more to his food plans in terms of full nutrition and a more balanced calorie intake. He also drinks shakeology daily and has added muscle and definition and WEIGHT to his frame. He’s a happy camper and currently doing Master’s Hammer and Chisel too. Then about 6 months ago, my youngest, (my 13 year old “bubba” boy) asked me, “what program should I do, Mom?”

I felt like crying. Seriously sobbing mom over here. All those years of me working my butt off and hearing people ask me why I was doing what I was doing, and rolling their eyes at me when I would eat “differently” from the rest of the crowd on most occasions and making time each day to get my fitness complete and my nutrition set…all the struggles that I went through and all the doubts I had over the importance of it was answered in turn when I saw all 3 of my kids doing the right thing and honoring their bodies. Sure, I make cookies and we eat fun foods. We have a normal life and I never ever ever require they follow exactly what I say. I don’t have to. I just bring the foods into the home and eat the foods I eat and they watch and they follow.

My youngest started with P90X3, moved onto Insanity Max:30 (I told him to do the modified version and that was enough for him) and now he’s starting 22 Minute Hard Corps along with me. I am just in awe…but I never ever say so! If I did, he would probably stop because mom is getting “annoying”…right? lol

Last proud moment I have to share, as I’ve been a “sweet tooth fan” most of my life, and I’ve also created a habit of enjoying “desserts” after dinner in our family.

The irony was that I wouldn’t eat most of it but I would bake up a storm of unhealthy items (feeling confident they were better than store bought cuz I made them!) and the family would love them! They actually started to expect it as “norm”. When I would not feel up to making something, they’d ask (almost in a panic) “What’s for dessert????”

I knew it was time to make a change. I started bringing more healthy options for dessert and baked less and less during the weekdays…but never stopping altogether. (gotta have some fun along the journey too!) My normal “evening snack” usually consists of Greek yogurt and oats. Now hubby and daughter are eating the same with me every night so we are always low on the stuff! But I’m not complaining at all! And do you know what my “bubba boy” usually chooses?

Navel oranges. He cuts them up in circles to make it “fun” to eat and sits down with his bowl of cut up oranges when we watch our evening Netflix series of the moment. He starts his day with a workout, has a shakeology for breakfast (this from a kid who never ate anything but sugary cereals for breakfast, cuz he wasn’t hungry in the am) and now he starts his day with this full dose of nutrition!!

Mom pride in full effect!! Kind of makes me want to continue this journey and see what else comes from it! Seriously, who is watching you today?

Day 1 of 22 Minute Hard Corps

My new program kicks off tomorrow and I am committed to pushing through my difficult areas; which usually (okay, always) revolve around following the nutrition plan as laid out! So here are my plans and I’m sticking to them!

22 minute hard corps, workout, bootcamp, at home workout, workout at home, results, fitness, get fit at home, short workouts, clean eating, support, shakeology, what is 22 minute hard corps

My workouts:

These will be done at 0500 hours. (see what I did there?) yes, there will be lots of that coming too! 😉

The workouts are just 22 minutes a day; 6 days a week. I will not be adding in additional workouts to make me “feel like I’m doing enough” either! I know many of us struggle in this area but this will only mess up with my nutritional needs and my recovery periods so as I know our programs are proven to succeed as laid out, I don’t need anything else!

*(I should note that I do teach 2 weekly gym classes but they are not counted as my workouts as I’m usually moving around and checking on other’s form and not using the weights that I would use if it was my workout alone).

So that’s taken care of. I also write down my workouts each day in my day planner like an appointment with myself. And I don’t cancel on myself EVER!!

My Nutrition:

Now, here is where we get serious and knowing my previous struggles in this area; planning is key to my success. Knowing that this is only an 8-week program (and then I do another program based on my next goals…I never “stop” progressing and learning), I can set my mind to doing my best every meal, every day and every week until the end. Starting pics will be in tomorrow’s post. Follow me for support cuz I def need all that I can get!

I will make create more variety in my meals this challenge, than my “usual” normal plan. The reason I’ve decided to do this is because when I fall back into my “normal”; which is not “bad” in any way from the years of experience I’ve been adapting, it only keeps me in the same place. In order to make changes, much like in my workouts, I know that my foods need to shift up a bit too. Nutrition is key and so is supplementing, so my daily Shakeology and my energize boosts will be helpful to my success as I push for more.

Ready to see week 1?

How the meals break down based on calorie needs.
How the meals break down based on calorie needs.

How to have it all

Do you ever feel less than successful in an endeavor or goal? Have you ever secretly been jealous of those who seem to attract success? Does it ever feel like you are always just missing out on the next goal or achievements?

What if I told you it has nothing to do with luck? What if I told you that you can most definitely create the most successful life of your dreams? Would you believe that is true? I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “Whether you believe you can or whether you believe you cannot; you are correct.” I’ve been reading the book “The 10X Rule” by Grant Cardone and these are some of his steps and tips to becoming more successful and living life in the “10X” manner.

It’s all up to you; and you decide if you will be a success story for others to aspire to, or not. Simply put, here are some of Grant’s steps to help you begin your successful life. You must embrace these attitudes and beliefs as your own. You must live and breathe these basic, proven principles in order to create the success you are looking for. Anything less than these qualities will just equal less than successful results.

Screen Shot 2016-03-08 at 12.45.26 PM

#1. Successful people have a can do attitude. This means that no matter what comes, there is a way. We must always maintain that a solution exists in any situation. There are no excuses. Respond to the most daunting situations in the most positive way. You must believe that a solution does indeed exist even if you have to work extra hard in finding one. End of story.

#2. Successful people say, “I can figure it out”, when faced with a challenge or question. Even if you’re not sure how to do something, the best answer is always, “I’ll figure it out”, not “I don’t know”. This response does nothing for your confidence or your competence. When we say, “I don’t know”, it only shows that we are unwilling to find an answer. When I have clients ask me a question that I really don’t know; I don’t tell them that. I am honest with them but say, “That’s a great question. Let me check into that and figure out what the answer is.” Just being honest is key but also giving the response that we are going to find the answer instead of just shrugging our shoulders and accepting defeat. That’s what unsuccessful people do.

#3. Successful people focus on opportunity. They see situations and even problems, as opportunities. Problems that are solved equal new success. You can never truly succeed without some degree of difficulty. For example, if you want to become fitter and stronger, you have to put your  body through an exercise program that challenges you and creates discomfort and challenge. Only then, can you see the success and enjoy the results. It doesn’t matter what the challenge is, if you handle it adequately, you will be rewarded. Those who see problems as an opportunity and push for the solution; will see the successful outcome. Most people see setbacks as an excuse to stop moving forward or succeeding. Have you ever complained about the economy, recessions, conflicts, complaints from others, your own complaints and worries and how these areas were the “cause” of your problems? They are only telling you that you need to find a solution in order to succeed.

#4. Successful people love challenges.  Unsuccessful people see challenges as negative experiences but successful people are compelled and invigorated by challenges. I remember being scared when faced with a challenge in life. I would cower and hide and wish and hope that it would disappear so I could feel comfortable again. But staying “comfortable” never allowed me to grow into the successful person I was working towards. I had to adopt the mindset to embrace every challenge as a new journey to another level. Kind of like when I played “Mario Bros” with my kids. Every time I “leveled up” was only after I had faced a challenge and persevered. If I failed, I would just repeat it over and over again, until I succeeded. That’s the intensity that a successful person must have in order to succeed further along the way.

#5. Successful people love to solve problems. Think about everything in life that we deal with. Problems arise at every turn and every situation, right? I know when my kids were young and when they would get sick, it was my top priority to solve their issues. “Does your tummy hurt?” “Do you feel hot?” “Tell me what’s hurting you.” And with these answers, it was my goal to help to resolve the issues so that we could get them to start feeling better as soon as possible. Even if the situation was out of my control; like when my daughter started wheezing and could hardly breathe due to eating a candy containing peanuts (and she’s seriously allergic to peanuts). I scooped up my 5 year old “baby” and rushed her to the ER to get immediate, medical attention. I didn’t just say, “Oh, that’s too hard. I don’t have the skills to fix this”; and just shrug my shoulders! That would have been insane and very incompetent as a parent. I found a solution. I was working for the solution no matter what. That’s the mindset of a successful person in any situation.

#6. Successful people persist until successful. The ability to keep going no matter what happens; setbacks, bad news, resistance, etc…is a trait of a successful person. No matter what happens, if we keep moving forward; we will always reach the goal over time. Think about how children persist when they want something. Have you ever had a child ask for something that they wanted? They don’t stop. I remember grocery shopping with my kids when they were young, and every time they’d see something they wanted me to buy; they would ask incessantly until either, I’d put it in the cart or move on to another item they wanted instead. Talk about persistence!! It’s about staying on track with the goal in mind; not the issues that arise. There will always be issues that arise.

#7. Successful people take risks. I’ve been working my online coaching business now for over 6 years. I had to come to the realization that I was not going to advance beyond my current potential if I was going to keep playing in the safe zone. I have succeeded enough in this business to validate that I can earn more than in my previous “day” job but honestly, there is more to be done and in order to achieve more…I had to decide to step out of my comfort zone and take some risks. Put myself out there online and share my story of failures, successes, challenges, etc? That sounded really scary and what would other people think? Would they judge me for doing this or for the things I would be baring? Yes and no. There will always be those who think negatively of anything we are doing. There will also be those who want to follow you and join you as you show who you really are and as they can relate with your story. The main focus should be on the outcome and being completely honest about myself and my life. I am not perfect and I don’t pretend to be perfect but some things are really scary to share. But this is what risk means to me. This is where I need to push myself in order to achieve more growth. Since I’ve done this, I’ve seen a humongous shift in my success and I continue to push myself outside the comfort zone. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?

#8. Successful people must be unreasonable. Sound crazy? Being unreasonable simply means being irrational and not in accordance with realities. I know it sounds like I’m off my rocker but honestly, in order to be successful, we have to act without common “reasoning”. We have to step out of the box of “normalcy” and “average” thinking and average actions. If we stay in the realms of “reason”; the impossible will never become “possible”. I’ve been called “crazy”; among other definitions. People see my daily habits and regime completely ridiculous and “unreasonable”. They say, “You wake up at 5am to get your day started?” “There is NO WAY I could do that! I’m a night owl!” “That’s just crazy and unreasonable!” But then they also turn around and tell me that they envy my results, how I seem to be more productive than they are, how I must be “lucky” in some way. Really? Or is it just because of the fact that I choose to live “unreasonably” to what others are interested in doing?

#9. Be dangerous. I know this is the opposite of what we’ve been taught to do since childhood. Being cautious never allows us to reach new heights and enjoy new successes. In order to do something big, we have to be willing to embrace danger. Like I said above, it’s scary for me to put myself out there and share my life and my story of ups and downs. But I cannot attain my goals of reaching the millionaire’s club with this business if I’m always playing it safe. What do you truly want to achieve? Can it be attained by taking slow and careful steps or do you need to take massive action in order to achieve those bigger goals? Just like a trained fighter who steps into the boxing ring; the way to succeed in our goals and not be “killed” by the dangerous steps is to be properly “trained” and come out the victor in the end.

#10. Create wealth. People who have a “poor person’s” mentality believe they have to work for their money and then when they earn that money…they spend it on something unimportant OR they work hard to conserve and protect that earned money. The successful mindset is in knowing and understanding that money has already been made. We must instead, generate wealth through the exchange of new ideas, products and services and solutions. Not “making” money. Wealth is not limited to a monetary supply. Income is taxed; wealth is not. Changing my mindset to the “earn, conserve and save”  to the “let’s generate more wealth in the areas that money is flowing” was not an easy change. Our behaviors and our mindsets have been formed from our past and what we’ve been taught. It was only through trainings and personal development that I learned a new way of thinking; or the way that successful people think and believe. How many people do you know who create wealth versus those who just “earn a living”?

#11. Readily take action. Highly successful people take unbelievable steps of action. They rarely do nothing. Even when on vacation. I know I’ve always looked up to the way my father thinks, acts and works. He never stops or slows down in his goals; whatever they may be. He has been successful all of his life. Looking from the outside, you would think he had everything just come to him like a magnetic shift. But if you were to look more closely, you would know how many challenges and struggles have been in his way and how he never stopped finding a solution; how we never stopped taking action. I like to think that I have that personality. I work on improving it and building that “muscle” to be able to keep taking action on my goals and push through any challenges and any obstacles. Think about someone whom you admire because of their successes. Have you ever thought that they were simply “lucky” and had everything drawn to them? That is never the case. Success never happens to us; success happens because of us. In order to create success, we must take massive action and never stop until we succeed…and then keep going.

#12. Always say YES!!!! Eagerly engage in life and the possibilities of life in order to become more successful. Life is to be lived. Finding a way to make things work and creating new ways to succeed, should be the driving force when anything is asked of a successful person. The goal is to find a way, or a “YES” at every request. Think about a time when you called a customer service number with a problem; wouldn’t you feel more positive with the company if the representative immediately said, “Yes, I will find a way to resolve this issue”, rather than, “I’m sorry but we can’t help you”? I know I would and that’s the type of attitude a successful person takes when approached with a question or dilemma.

#13. Put it all on the line or be all in. Unsuccessful people rarely do much of anything at all. They talk a lot about “trying” to do something versus actually “doing” it. Most people rarely see anything through or work until they succeed in their goals. When was the last time you decided to “put all of your chips into the pot”? I know that I became extremely disappointed in myself with my business a year ago when I realized I had not grown in any way for over a year. The initial thought that I had was, “This isn’t working! I can’t grow this anymore than I have! I QUIT!” But the new mindset in me shot back with, “But what have you done differently in the past few years in order to achieve more?” And I knew I hadn’t done all that I should. It was at that moment in time, when I was ready to call it in and QUIT, that I said, “That’s it! I’m all in!” I vowed to do what I needed to do and be scared and follow what successful people were doing in the industry and stop complaining about my lack due to my inconsistencies. That is what it truly takes to be successful. It won’t happen by accident and it won’t magically appear any easier than this. Just DO IT! Just JUMP INTO THE DEEP END OF THE POOL! I would rather work with someone who is fully ready to commit rather than someone who is fully educated on how to do it. I know the team members I work with who are fully invested and doing what they say are the ones who succeed. Those who tell me they want it but show little or no action will never amount to much more than a hobby. I know, I did that too. I love the saying, “Stop talking and show me your feet”…or “get moving and stop talking about it!”

#14. Go all the way. Taking any endeavor and only going halfway is a waste of time. If you are going to set a goal of losing 100 lbs by summer and you get lazy, tired and off track and only lose 20 lbs instead…what does that feel like? I know it doesn’t feel great. Yes, maybe you feel happy that you are 20 lbs lighter than before; but what is the underlying thought in the back of your mind? “I didn’t reach my goal. I’m a failure. I didn’t do what I wanted. I need to lose more weight next time.” Right? If we half ass anything, we know we half assed it. We may tell ourselves we are happy with what we’ve achieved but if there is a bigger need for that bigger goal then we are going to feel like we fell short. And we did. It doesn’t mean we can’t keep going but it does mean that if we give up, we may have been better off not wasting the time to work to lose just the 20 lbs that will probably be gained again by going to our previous habits. So if you have a goal, only go after it if you are all in. If you won’t stop when you are tired, bored, busy, etc…but you stop when you are freaking there! And then you find a way to maintain that and not go back to where you started. Doesn’t that already sound like a better success rate? Less dieting tips would fill our lives and more success stories this way!

#15. Do it now. Stop looking backwards and stop waiting for a future date or magical “time”. Putting off any task is only an excuse and will never help you reach your goals. Successful people jump in today and never procrastinate. Action is necessary for all success. Putting it off only puts of your goals indefinitely and this becomes a habit over time. I know you probably can think of at least one person in your life who does procrastinates regularly. It drives me nuts…and especially when I’ve done it!! Now is the time.

The more you can do things that scare you and push you forward; the stronger you become and the more courageous you look to others. It’s just like working on your muscles of your body to look better physically; you have to take action or nothing will change. Take action in your life in whatever you are looking to achieve and don’t let the unsuccessful thoughts or behaviors to cloud your focus.

Stress and the Weekends

Stress can be such a buzz kill to our good efforts, right? I know…it happens to the best of us! 😉

I figured you needed to hear this straight from me and how I am committing to moving through the crap this new week anyway. This past week, we had huge plans of family coming in and staying at our home and tons of food to be made ahead of time; house cleaning to be done; planning for all events that surrounded the stay and more…

At one point, my hubby looked at me and asked, “why are you so calm?????” 🙂 lol I guess he anticipated that I should be freaking out way more than I was! But, honestly, I have learned over the past few years to simply do my best and leave the rest to whatever was going to happen. I am not (and even though I don’t like to admit it…NEVER WAS) able to control everything. Yes, I am a bit “OCD” personality but that means nothing when life happens.

We were set to begin –  with the countdown on for the guests and events fast approaching…when a ginormous speed bump came into view and shifted every well intentioned plan we had set up.

Yes, everything changed and there was no getting out of that. I had no control. GASP 😉 I had to just reshift my focus on the next step. That was key to me NOT freaking out and having a complete meltdown and I do have to say that with my family at my side, we were able to deal with the issues and make it through safely…lol

Needless to say, in all of the craziness and all of the change of plans…my own personal “best eating plans” for my success in finishing Hammer & Chisels’ final 2 weeks went awry. Like, serious bread eating was done. (my comfort food of choice, along with cookies!)

I was devastated…not going to lie.

I felt like I was hit by a truck at some points and it’s kind of stupid because I was really only dealing with worrying about other’s in my family…and the change of plans in my home.

Nothing bad had happened to me aside from this adjustment period… and yet, I was kind of making a big ordeal about the stress. I know that I’m not the only person who does this, right? And imagine had it been directly concerning ME…that would have thrown me even more off balance.

So what happens now? Like, after I had eaten the garlic bread I wasn’t supposed to eat, and the huge sandwich I inhaled at lunch with my sister and niece…and maybe even some “bites, licks and tastes” of cookies and brownies. I felt bloated, heavy and lethargic and I now know better than to think I had “undone” all the good things from the past few months. It made me reflect back to when I first began this fitness/health journey; before I learned what eating the right foods means and what type of serious focus to place on my success along the journey.

I resonated with those who are suffering the unknowns…thinking that days, weeks, weekends, or months can be the end of our good intentions. Believing the nasty “diet world” hype that surrounds us at every corner, magazine, commercial, etc. can make anyone crazy if we don’t educate ourselves on what is true and what is going to help us continue. The one thing I know that is helping me is my online support group and the complete understanding that I have control and power to focus on my day to day plans. Nothing ever goes perfectly. We can plan all we want and it still can become skewed or completely off kilter but I can always reset and refocus, right?

So can you!

I want to share how I’m making this work for me; instead of having a binge fest and just saying, “to hell with it all this week cuz I’ve already screwed up my last week and a half of this meal plan on hammer and chisel. There’s no way I’ll get the results I wanted now…”

That’s NOT the way to think! I used to think this way and I bet you have (or still do) too! Right?? 🙂

So instead, I am drawing that line in the sand and getting on board like a BOSS LADY! I’m even catching up today in my business info that had to slide since I didn’t have the amount of time available as I usually do. Here’s what I will be committing to this coming week:

  1. Waking up at 5am all week to start my day with my workout, breakfast and personal development reading.
  2. Planning out my business hours and scheduling time for my family and breaks so I don’t overwhelm myself just because I am further behind than usual. (I used to over do things at this point in thinking I could “catch up” again in a day or two but this was a self defeating cycle that left me worse off in the long run)
  3. Making sure that my shakeology gets into my body every day this week…(although this is easy for me now and I haven’t skipped a day all year so far!)
  4. Planning my meals and sticking to the plans!!! (this one is my main priority this week…only because it’s the hardest thing for me to do!) I am even going to share this plan with you below so you can feel free to follow along or even share with me any questions you would like to ask (email me or post below)

Week 8 Hammer & Chisel:

Monday: Workout – Chisel Endurance and 10 min ab chisel

Tuesday: Max Hammer Strength

Wednesday: Chisel Cardio (this one is brutal!)

Thursday: the plan says it’s REST day but I switch my rest day to Sunday – Hammer Plyometrics

Friday: Total Body Chisel

Saturday: Hammer Power (my fave!!) and 10 min ab hammer

Here’s my meal plan for Monday:

Screen Shot 2016-02-21 at 3.03.39 PM

I will share my plans for Tuesday through Sunday to stay on track. Being accountable to what I say I’m doing versus just pretending that I’m on track when I slip up (cuz life happens, right??) is the secret to my success in staying on track the past few years!!

I’m so excited to kick off our new support group as we prepare to get fit and healthy for summer this Spring! There’s still time to jump in if you are 100% serious, just message me today or fill out this form to get your goals lined up and I’ll contact you right away.

The truth about Beachbody Coaching (non biased info)

See that picture above. THAT is exactly what i felt like when I first found the coaching opportunity. I was like hmmmm… sounds cool but also sounds overrrated. Totally being honest here!  I kind of looked at the opportunity and said, “ya, but can you really make any money cuz it doesn’t sound like work!

My goal here is to save you from the confusion, anxiety and uncertainties of researching the legitimacy and logistics of Beachbody coaching. This is truly unbiased as I will share my down and dirty experience. I want everyone to gather the information and make a conscience decision on whether this would be a fit for you or not. And if not, then that’s totally acceptable too! The bottom line is that there is no “one size fits all” in life and this is just another opportunity for those who are drawn to it and treat it like a business; versus a “hobby”. I am sharing with you what it has done for my life and what it can do for those who share the vision of the network. This has SAVED MY LIFE from the overstressed and underpaid world of working for someone else. Let’s start by breaking down the differences between what a Beachbody coach IS and IS NOT! —->

bb coach

So you probably read this info over and realized that truly ANYONE and EVERYONE can be a coach, right? Well, yes and no. As a coach, we have many different roles and strong points but the number one takeaway is that this takes a true LEADER. Leading and living by example is the key to legitimate role modeling.  Some of us are trainers and some of us are not. I get asked this question often too…”what are your feelings about so many coaches who are working with clients and not qualified as a trainer or nutritionist?” Well first of all, we don’t need to be a certified trainer in order to become a successful “coach” because that’s where the programs come into play. The trainers in our workouts are professionals and perform awesome results in the proven plans that are available through the Beachbody world. But that is not the entire package. If you were to simply purchase a plan from the Beachbody store and decide you’re going to get some great results this time around, great! But what is different about this time? What about the other programs and workouts you’ve purchased or started in the past? Why weren’t you more successful before and why is it different now? Let me say that in choosing a coach who you relate with, you now have a “workout partner” that can share some great results and personal stories while helping to motivate you and relate with you at the same time.  Not only that, but you will be surrounded by the community within the Beachbody world which is pretty flipping fabulous as we all have the common goal of paying it forward and helping someone else achieve goals that we are either doing now…or have done already. Now that we’ve covered this first topic, I want to go over some common misconceptions about coaching…
–You don’t have to be at your goal weight! —-> Beachbody coaching is more about taking the journey WITH others, along side of you. Think about it…..how relatable is perfection? I would not be motivated by somebody who proclaimed to have it all together and have the perfect/ideal body they always wanted. I want to know that someone else is struggling to put down that cupcake right along side of me! The feeling of camaraderie and being a part of a “family” is more powerful and allows us all to work together day to day.
–You don’t have to be a business MASTER!– A lot of people are really scared at first!! Saying things like “how would i get people to join my team?” OR “How would I get in touch with people” OR ” I don’t even think I have a market!” ….The MOST beautiful thing about it……ALL THESE THINGS ARE ALREADY SPELLED OUT for you. We have tons of trainings, documents and one-on-one trainings for this very reason! Some of the TOP COACHES in the BIZ (we are talking millionaires people) have figured out the ways and they pass it down to you! 🙂 It’s similar to a biz model if you were to purchase and run a franchise, you have all the tools and strategies and secrets laid out for you; and the only missing component left to fill is YOU!
–You don’t have to be a certified personal trainer or nutrition BUFF. –> Back to my topic from above…we have TRAINERS to do this! Even as a certified trainer (as I am), it takes so much pressure off of me to not have to sit and walk one person through a workout a few days a week and not quite know what they are doing on the other non-training days; let alone what they are eating!  Ever heard of some people named Shaun T? Tony Horton? Autumn Calabrese? Chalene Johnson? Well, in case you haven’t….(and are you living under a rock??? LOL)…these are the CELEBRITY TRAINERS that Beachbody has hired to whip challengers into shape! They are THE BEST OF THE BEST! nobody needs ANOTHER personal trainer !! Beachbody also has full teams of the top nutritionists making custom meal plans (tested and proven) for challengers to use! I cannot tell you how many trainers I’ve known throughout the years that didn’t even offer up nutrition plans for their clients!!! It’s like, the most important aspect to getting results!!!
–It is NOT a pyramid scheme! –> let me ask you a question…DO YOU KNOW WHAT A PYRAMID SCHEME IS? …Let me give you a huge HINT: It’s ILLEGAL!!! You cannot have a successful business model anything like the one within Beachbody if it was a pyramid scheme without being shut down. You also wouldn’t see a pyramid scheme be accredited by the Better Business Bureau as a great network marketing company. The second major issue with a pyramid scheme is that there is no real product consumption within it. Here’s how a natural “pyramid scheme” works; you are asked to invest in a company and then you are asked to bring in two new people underneath you. Any income generated to you is only from those “new” people you signed up underneath you. There are no products or return for the investment and these “new” people are also asked to bring on two new people…and so on and so forth. This could not be further from the Beachbody business as there are obviously products and services to invest in and share along the way.
Let me also share how Beachbody was started and how they decided to implement the network marketing business within the company; and how it is fast growing to more than a  multi-million dollar business model it has become in a few short years. The company started with just two owners; Carl Daikeler and Jon Congdon. These two were basically working as infomercial salesmen who were doing amazingly well in their sales in other businesses and when they came together they realized their niche was in health and fitness. They decided to come together and start a company, which they called “Beachbody” and then they ran into a guy named, “Tony Horton” (who you may know from P90X popularity) 😉 Together, these 3 men developed and sold their first workout programs and were having amazing success within their customer base. The problem was that they also needed a place for these customers to come together and share their successes as well as receive support and motivation from one another. They created a customer “forum” online and that’s when the many organic “sharing” of the workout success and help within the community truly was born.   These “success customers” or “coaches” (as now known) were able to help the new customers gain more success than ever and they found that the customers who didn’t utilize the forum and the “coaches” had less success or none at all. 90% of the success stories came from the members who were “coached” by the success story customers. It became apparent that this was something which needed to be celebrated and rewarded with compensation benefits. The “coaching” network was born and those who were working to motivate and help those who were beginning their own journeys were given a 25% commission on the sales that they were helping to generate. I don’t know about you; but this could not be further from the definition of a “pyramid scheme”. When I joined, I purchased a workout program and my Shakeology and I didn’t blindly put my money into an empty “company model” in hopes of getting rich quick. The only money I invest in my business, is giving me something in return that I could use for my goals in health and fitness. The other aspect was in signing people up strictly to “earn” money from. When I have a coach sign up, if they are not interested in building a business with me; I’d rather they stay on as a customer so we can work together strictly to help them reach their goals. I only want coaches that actually want to build a business at home; on their own time and their own terms. If they are willing to help other people; if they want to get fit and help other people change their lives and pay it forward while they are changing their own lives as well…then and only then do I benefit from these coaches. But only if they are truly helping others and benefiting from their own “coaching”. So the “shape” of the company may resemble a pyramid…but if you think about it, doesn’t every organization and company actually resemble a pyramid too? Just being honest! 😉 So I hope that helps you understand this issue.
Feel better?!?!  ME TOO!
Now that we have addressed some of the most common misconceptions !! Let’s talk about the benefits!!!! The TRUE, HONEST, HARD COLD Benefits !
benefits
I bet you are thinking …SERIOUSLY?!?! That is amazing!
Yeah, that is what I am trying to tell you! HAHA! But most people cant see it at first because our BRAINS ARE TRAINED — go to school , spend thousands getting a degree …then work in that job for YEARS behind a desk until you GET TO retire…BUT FINALLY the secret is out!  There IS a better way!
The benefits above are all completely real and true. When I began, I made (an average) of $200-$500 a week in my first few months with Beachbody. Just consider for a moment what would an extra $800 or more do for your life and your family? Would it help you relieve some stresses about bills? Would you be able to save up for a vacation or some fancy new workout gear? Would you just like to have some extra cash left over after all the bills are paid each month? These are all great goals when starting out as a new coach and they are all possible for anyone who commits to the training and steps to build this business.
What I liked best about getting started is that there are absolutely NO OBLIGATIONS! Many times, if you sign up for an opportunity such as this, you have a time commitment. This is completely risk-free…I actually had a coach sign up one day and decide she had changed her mind the NEXT day and we were able to cancel with NO QUESTIONS asked. I’m actually happy to help those who change their minds because we are all free to do so in our lives, why should this be any different?
I am now making more with this business than I made as a full time personal trainer in a corporate gym and it only took me taking a LEAP OF FAITH and believe that if this worked for someone else (which I knew was the case) then I could do the very same thing. 🙂
—————————————————————————->
So I want to explain now that there are 3 different options when joining as a coach. Remember NO obligations and here are the options to choose from:

1. “Preferred Customer” OR DISCOUNT COACH. —> This is someone who LOVES the products and is going to keep ordering them but doesn’t want to be a coach! NO PROBLEM! You get everything at 25% off. If you are getting your monthly shipment of Shakeology (who isnt) There are NO strings attached and ZERO work to be done with this option. Here is how it will break down.
-Shakeology (retail) = $129.95
-Shakeology (coach) – $97.46
(add in the required monthly fee of $15.95 for if you ever want to start coaching…..$114.00)
That is a savings of $16.54 per month which adds up to $202.08 !!! (that is a HUGE savings over time, wouldn’t you agree?)
-Because you are technically a “coach” you get to write off all of your Beachbody purchases on your taxes 🙂 🙂 🙂
Extra refund?…YES PLEASE!!!

**Remember you also get 25% off EVERYTHING on the website.. including programs, apparel, etc…
2. “Hobby Coach” or  “Part Time” —> This is someone who doesn’t want to make it full time thing but loves the products and how they affect their life and wants to make a little extra FUN MONEY from telling people what they are doing to look and feel so awesome! Who doesn’t want an extra $200 bucks in their bank account every month ? This is the FUN perk with no real WORK to be done! Does someone notice you lost weight or your skin looks better than ever? They would ask you “what are you doing?” and you simply SHARE with them. That’s how easy this option is 🙂

3. The “Business Building” coach –> Someone who wants to take it to THE TOP and make it a SIX FIGURE income and beyond business! Helping people for a living!!!!! All for the small price of $39.95 !!!

I know that I’m a visual learner and need to SEE the facts before I really understand what is being said. So I found this graphic and thought you might enjoy checking it out to see for yourself. Think of this business as a “Franchise opportunity” and this makes complete sense:
—-> For just a second, I want you to play “what if” with me…what if you became a coach?
”What if” you never made a penny but you got healthier–that’s it!  You started drinking shakeology (for a discount), working out consistently with the help of your fellow coaches, what if you started feeling better, being present in your family’s lives, having more energy and just feeling ALIVE! Would it be worth it?

“What if” you shared Beachbody with a friend who was diabetic, depressed and on a downward spiral just praying for someone to reach out and help them..to notice them..they just aren’t in a place to get started on their own. They are defeated. YOU are THAT person! YOU reach out and play a huge part in changing/saving their life!

Would it be worth it?

“What if” you jumped wholeheartedly into this opportunity and committed to doing whatever it takes? You do the small, consistent tasks daily no matter what’s going on in your life because you not only dream of something better, you KNOW it’s out there and you are DETERMINED to get it! You commit to be here a year from now! You have big dreams and realize this is an amazing outlet to get you there! You do the 3 vital behaviors relentlessly because you KNOW you were DESTINED FOR GREATNESS! In 2 years, you are making a six figure income, helping people–feeling blessed and humble and thankful!

Would it be worth it?

“What if” you forgot about it…this coaching thing’s not for me..fears, apprehensions, preconceived notions, whatever the reason…you just don’t want to do it. You don’t have to. But I challenge you today to think about the things in your life that make you unhappy or miserable…what are you doing about them? Five years from now, will you be having the same bad day– overworked, underpaid, tired and stressed? What if you DID something about it instead. Would it be worth it?

Fill in this application to be considered for a spot on the team 🙂

Will you run with me in 2016?

Every day we wake up to a blank slate of a day; ready to be filled in by what we choose and what we decide is most important to us. Have you ever sat daydreaming about your perfect world? Have you ever wondered if you could truly amount to more than what and who you are today?

I am going to tell you that I believe you can. I believe that we all can. What’s the hang up? Sadly, it’s ourselves. We tend to believe what we’ve learned from our past results and failures. We base our success on what we haven’t yet achieved. We stop before we have ever truly begun. It’s sad, and I hear it from so many others now that I am pushing beyond my own limitations.

Think about it. What would your “perfect day” in your “perfect life” look like  to you?

What time would you wake up each day? What would you do first each day? Where would you live and who are you surrounded by? What are your work hours? What do you consider your successes?

These are just a few of the blank sheets you can fill in and you can start it today.

A new year is upon us…again. A new year to start with big goals that have haunted you before and yet you’ve been too afraid to start because of your past.

joinme

Believe me, I can relate with those fears. And I can relate with big goals and big dreams for my life and my family’s lives. In reality, we are the only person who is holding us back. It’s time for us to push for more; to show ourselves that we are capable of so much more than we have become complacent with. Are you tired of being “tired”? Do you believe without a shadow of a doubt that you were destined for more? Do you believe you can somehow succeed in every way you have dreamt about before? Well, I am right here with you and I am ready to blow the roof off this coming year too! As I look back at 2015, I realize that I have grown in many ways and come far in my beliefs, in helping my customers succeed in major weight loss and fitness goals. I have worked with others in learning how to truly believe in their capabilities and in turn, it’s helped me believe more in my own. I believe we all work together, and yet we are only responsible for our own successes or failures.

The goals I have for 2016 are so big that they do honestly scare me. But it’s that kind of “scare” that can easily be felt as excitement and a sheer sense of awe and wonder. I have been playing it “safe” for much too long now and I am looking to focus on throwing off every bit of doubt and fear and diving headfirst into the success pool!

I am creating simple and duplicable systems to share with my team. I want to build an empire and have already laid out the groundwork. I know that I can easily stay where I am today and be “content” enough with my income; my drive and my goals…but I cannot accept that as my dream come true.

My dream come true looks like this: I see a team of women, just like me; who are busy, and driven and love their families. I see us working together on empowering other women to become successful in not only their bodies, health and fitness, but in their lives and in their daily successes. I see us coming together and braving the uncertainties of building a successful business to help others in the same way we are being helped. In doing so, I see my family being blessed for their patience and faith in my perseverance in a “better way” and a life of freedom to be healthy, happy and able to give to others as freely as we wish.

Are you are a go getter?
Are you driven?
Are you motivated for greatness?
Are you independent?
Are you into health and fitness?
Do you believe you are worthy of something greater than where you are today?
Do you have the drive to build a life by your own design?
Do you want to fire your boss?
D0 you want to work from home?
Do you want to wake up and decide how to spend your dream days?
Then I am looking for you! I want you on my team! I want to build this empire together and dream bigger than we’ve ever dreamed before.

It’s GOOOO time!!

I don’t know what has changed in my energy but ever since my birthday this past month (December 12 for those of you who want to make note for gifts next year!) HA! 😉 ….I am on a rampage to succeed bigger and better than I’ve been settling for. Maybe it’s because I realized (and I thought at first that I was a year younger..so weird) I was going to be turning 45 next year and kind of sick and tired of certain scenarios staying the same as they have been. Whatever the reasons were is beside the point. I’m just fired up and on the go!

Screen Shot 2014-10-26 at 11.03.15 AM

Like, fired up enough that I wake up at 4-5am and start working! What?? I know, crazy, right? I would have said the same thing in my “previous” state…(a whopping 3 weeks ago!) but I realized that I can’t stop thinking about all of the great goals and plans I am working for in the next year.

So, I set up my goal planner and wrote down some crazy stuff!!! 10 BIG ASS goals that I will achieve (notice how I didn’t say want or wish??)…Yes, I said that right. I WILL achieve these 10 ginormous goals by next year’s birthday. No, I won’t share them with you now but patience because they will all soon be revealed! bwahahahahahaha! 😀

Anyway, back to reality:

As you probably are aware of, if you know anything at all about me; I’m heavily in love with fitness. Give me a challenge and I’ll do what it takes to crush it to smithereens. (never have I used the word “smithereens” in my blog before so I am pointing it out) Where I usually lack is in my nutrition. This is a big reason I decided to take on a fitness competition just 4 years ago, at the age of 40. No, not to “flaunt” my stuff on stage…although taking those trophies home was kind of a high! It was more about proving to myself that I’m not all about the workouts and flub on my eating. (which, let’s face it; I was doing)

It’s funny because I hear this from so many women who also love fitness. “Yes, I love to workout”…and when asked about their nutrition, the response is usually, “Oh, ya! I eat clean.” Like that means anything!! LOL I eat “clean” too and believe in only whole foods and no crap fillers or artificial stuff ever…(just ask my family, cuz they knowwwww) but we can still overeat the good stuff, right? (I have a lot of stories referring to OD’s on PB; among other foods but we’ll save that for another time) so in my best attempt to put the two together and be completely accountable to my goals (I mean, how much MORE accountable can one get besides stepping on stage with mostly 20-30 year olds in nothing but a bikini and high heels?), I hired an online trainer/coach to help me with my workouts, food plans and how to strut the stage!

IMG_1033

That was a journey I will never forget and I am grateful to all who supported me during those 6 months…but you can have your 2+ hour gym workouts and meal plans that make you crazy because of “no carb” days and “low carb days” and eating fish and asparagus every 2 hours ONLY…no thanks! It was fun but I’m back to reality and leading by living real life! lol

What’s up with this rant, you might wonder? First of all, I am on a high for sure and my energy has been through the roof so bare with me. I am taking this time to plan and implement the steps it takes to push forward and prove to both myself, my family, my naysayers..and even YOU; that I can do this. That this can be done. Much like my fitness competition at the age of 40, I can reach life goals like NOBODY else is willing to do at the age of 40+ (mind you, I stopped counting, obviously!)

  1. My fitness and meals will be solid and I’ll be sharing each program that I’ll be doing from here until next December. (maybe longer if you’re nice!)
  2. I’ll also be giving a lot more information on my at-home coaching business. For those of you who don’t know my background, I was a fitness instructor and trainer for over 25 years and although I loved it..it is grueling work and the pay isn’t anything to brag about. lol….I became an at-home online “coach” almost 6 years ago, kind of as a lame attempt at collecting some “extra income” on the side. I basically help people reach their goals while working at home with a proven fitness program, proven and “clean” supplement line and 24/7 online support. It’s a “virtual gym” and has blessed me to be able to quit my full-time career of working early mornings and late nights when my family wanted me home…and actually help me earn back that income (and more) with this “home biz”.

This biz isn’t for everyone and if you’re wondering, yes, it runs like an “MLM” but the only one that I have found that fits my passion, life and goals. The greatest thing about it is that anyone with goals and dreams (and drive) can succeed at this biz! You do not have to be a fitness pro (although this is a great addition to fit pros for sure!), you do not have to be a professional in nutrition either. You simply have got to want to make healthy changes for your life and lead by example. You have to want to help others do the same with your support. The rest is done for us…and the workouts come with their own “personal trainers” to bring into your living room! 😉 I’m not the only one in my household who is doing this anymore…my daughter and 2 sons are on their own programs and using our supplements daily for their own goals and success stories. I’m a proud momma! 😉 12246990_10208268267935240_8306247315003551451_n

Anyway, keep watching cuz I’ll be sharing a ton of my ups and downs and everything in between along the next 12 months but if you have ever wanted to create your own home biz and have a passion for helping others succeed; as well as keeping you on track with your own health and fitness, I highly suggest getting some info sent your way today. No pressure but how will you know if you never find out?

Here’s an application to fill out and I’ll forward the info right away. You only live once and if you hold back because of fear of the unknowns and not wanting to get too uncomfortable; you might become complacent like I have been.

Or are you already there???
