Should you diet or exercise; or both?

When it comes to losing weight, we feel overwhelmed and under-informed.

We believe when our best friend, Jan, tells us that the Keto diet is the only way to lose weight.

We get caught up in the latest hype, thinking this must be a new research finding that finally works wonders.

But the only truth is that it’s simpler than we actually want to believe. We want to believe it’s more complicated because at least that would give us some clarity on why we haven’t achieved our goals – and kept them – after so much practice. Does that say something about us?

Yes and no. We want to believe the hype because it’s, well, hype.  We love hearing the latest gossip, watch the latest episode of our favorite reality tv show and are obsessed with scrolling through our favorite social media newsfeeds.

How can weight loss and fat loss be so boring? It’s basically the same old thing you’ve heard a million years ago:

Move more + Eat less

Ya, I know, BORING!

But so true and when you get down to it and finally accept this truth, it can actually help free you from ever believing another hyped up claim of fat and weight loss. You can simply smile and nod when your besties tell you they finally found the “golden bestest weight loss plan ever!” Because you now know better.

But it isn’t easy to give up our old habits this easily. We may feel like a fraud. We might secretly believe that there really is going to be another magical potion or balance of macronutrients that will burn off fat faster and give us the freedom we’ve always dreamed of.

But no. Not going to happen. Ever. So let’s stop putting off the inevitable and just start already! You can start today if you truly are ready. Just start tracking your foods. You don’t even have to count the calories yet. Just write down what you eat, make sure to take note of the amount and portions and tally it all at the end of the day. Easy peasy. Or is it?

At first, this is going to feel like the hardest thing you’ve ever done! But just trust me and stick with it. It will get easier. You might have to cut back on some of the foods after a day or two of tracking. If you aren’t sure how many calories you need to lose weight, I have a video tutorial on how to find your personal magical weight loss calorie deficit range.

Now that you know how to find your calorie range,  you have no reason not to succeed, right? Or do you? I find the biggest component of weight loss and successful results come from accountability and support. We all need to feel like we are not alone in any of our efforts and it’s important to work with someone who can answer our questions and help us when we get stuck or hit a plateau. If that’s something you are interested in, you need to join my support system. Just shoot me an email to: and tell me what your goals are for this month.

Will you run with me in 2016?

Every day we wake up to a blank slate of a day; ready to be filled in by what we choose and what we decide is most important to us. Have you ever sat daydreaming about your perfect world? Have you ever wondered if you could truly amount to more than what and who you are today?

I am going to tell you that I believe you can. I believe that we all can. What’s the hang up? Sadly, it’s ourselves. We tend to believe what we’ve learned from our past results and failures. We base our success on what we haven’t yet achieved. We stop before we have ever truly begun. It’s sad, and I hear it from so many others now that I am pushing beyond my own limitations.

Think about it. What would your “perfect day” in your “perfect life” look like  to you?

What time would you wake up each day? What would you do first each day? Where would you live and who are you surrounded by? What are your work hours? What do you consider your successes?

These are just a few of the blank sheets you can fill in and you can start it today.

A new year is upon us…again. A new year to start with big goals that have haunted you before and yet you’ve been too afraid to start because of your past.

Believe me, I can relate with those fears. And I can relate with big goals and big dreams for my life and my family’s lives. In reality, we are the only person who is holding us back. It’s time for us to push for more; to show ourselves that we are capable of so much more than we have become complacent with. Are you tired of being “tired”? Do you believe without a shadow of a doubt that you were destined for more? Do you believe you can somehow succeed in every way you have dreamt about before? Well, I am right here with you and I am ready to blow the roof off this coming year too! As I look back at 2015, I realize that I have grown in many ways and come far in my beliefs, in helping my customers succeed in major weight loss and fitness goals. I have worked with others in learning how to truly believe in their capabilities and in turn, it’s helped me believe more in my own. I believe we all work together, and yet we are only responsible for our own successes or failures.

The goals I have for 2016 are so big that they do honestly scare me. But it’s that kind of “scare” that can easily be felt as excitement and a sheer sense of awe and wonder. I have been playing it “safe” for much too long now and I am looking to focus on throwing off every bit of doubt and fear and diving headfirst into the success pool!

I am creating simple and duplicable systems to share with my team. I want to build an empire and have already laid out the groundwork. I know that I can easily stay where I am today and be “content” enough with my income; my drive and my goals…but I cannot accept that as my dream come true.

My dream come true looks like this: I see a team of women, just like me; who are busy, and driven and love their families. I see us working together on empowering other women to become successful in not only their bodies, health and fitness, but in their lives and in their daily successes. I see us coming together and braving the uncertainties of building a successful business to help others in the same way we are being helped. In doing so, I see my family being blessed for their patience and faith in my perseverance in a “better way” and a life of freedom to be healthy, happy and able to give to others as freely as we wish.

Are you wondering why I am sharing this with you today? Because I want to ask you a question, is this something you can relate with:

Are you are a go getter?
Are you driven?
Are you motivated for greatness?
Are you independent?
Are you into health and fitness?
Do you believe you are worthy of something greater than where you are today?
Do you have the drive to build a life by your own design?
Do you want to fire your boss?
D0 you want to work from home?
Do you want to wake up and decide how to spend your dream days?
Then I am looking for you! I want you on my team! I want to build this empire together and dream bigger than we’ve ever dreamed before.

This makes me “uncomfortable”

Wow! 5 days in a row of blogging…I think I’m liking this new habit. 🙂

Today’s workout was Friday Fight in my Insanity Max:30 workout and it kicked my butt and the “X-jumps X-planks” won out today. I maxed out at 22:04 and that was better than last week at 19:45. It was a fight between my mind (wanting to stop when I felt I had done enough) and my body (feeling the burning in my lungs, legs and out of breath) and I had to keep reminding myself what I was doing and how I could keep going; if just for another few seconds or so.

Do you challenge yourself enough in your day to day? Or have you found that you have become a bit complacent in some areas? It happens to us all so just being honest and owning up is step 1. The whole problem with backing off when we feel uncomfortable or tired is right at that point where we already are in our goals. So if you need to push through some boundaries and lose weight, lose fat, lean out, gain muscle, tone up, etc…and you keep “stopping” at your “wall”; then you will just stay where you are at now. Why? Because our wall is our current status. By breaking through (and it doesn’t even take much to do so…just a second more or one more rep is what needs to be eeked out) and pushing for just that little bit more…we all of a sudden make a change.

And the best thing about it? We only have to eek out a small extra push in order to reach massive changes over time. Pretty cool, right?

That goes for everything in life too. Your work, your foods, your relationships, etc. Just doing a little bit more or a little bit different in the direction you are looking to go…and over time, you create some ginormous new results. I like those odds. 🙂

Let’s review my week so far.

I’ve kept up with my workouts and challenged my Max Out time every day to increase my results. I’ve now completed month 1 of the program so the weekend is all about recovery and rest..and Monday starts the (dreaded) month 2… lol

My meals are getting better. I know am much more mindful of planning ahead with my meals and sticking to the plans. For example, today after lunch, I was still so hungry! I felt a bit panicky and realized that in the past, this feeling would take over my rational mind and I’d throw a bunch of foods into my mouth that I didn’t really even want.

I bet you’ve done this before too, right? It’s pretty common and it can be changed.

How did I overcome today? I stopped myself and had a mini-self talk session and acknowledged the fact as it was…not as I felt it was. (reality sometimes isn’t all it seems when hormones, stress, tension, feeling, exhaustion, habits and more get in the way) I calmed myself down by telling myself what was happening – instead of giving in to the emotions and just chowing down. I then decided I’d enjoy a cup of tea with another apple. Not a huge problem if I have an extra apple today, right? But it could be so much worse if I threw some other high-fat options into my pie-hole! 😉

That takes me to the weekend. How will you do this weekend? I know you will see exactly how I do so that is a no-brainer. It will be all about my meals and sometimes the family wants to eat out so there is going to be some tips on how I handle that and your accountability means I will need to stick to my goals and not think nobody is watching! LOL

What about you??
